MARKET TALK: Malaysia Shares End Down 0.2%; 1600-1625 Band Tipped

Malaysia shares end down 0.2% at 1607.35 as investors continue to lock in profits on concerns over the U.S. fiscal cliff and bearish technical cues, a local dealer says and tips the benchmark index to trade in a 1600-1625 band in the near term. Market breadth ends negative at 392 losers vs 275 gainers with a total volume of 726.2 million shares. Among losers, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (5183.KU) ends down 4.9% at MYR5.66, YTL Power International Bhd (6742.KU) dips 2.5% to MYR1.54 and IOI Corp. Bhd (1961.KU) eases 0.6% to MYR4.93. Among gainers, British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (4162.KU) ends up 4.3% at MYR55.50, Bumi Armada Bhd (5210.KU) adds 2.7% to MYR3.80 and UMW Holdings Bhd (4588.KU) rises 1.9% to MYR10.82
