KL shares six-day rally

SHARE on Bursa Malaysia continued its rally for the sixth consecutive day, brushing off even a slightest fear from the drop in the manufacturing data released earlier today, dealers said.

Further follow-through buying in Tenaga and Bumiputra-Commerce pushed the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) 4.6 points higher or 0.481 per cent to 961.28 at close.

The CI, which opened 6.21 points higher at 962.89, moved between 953.63 and 969.93.

The Finance Index jumped 76.07 points to 7,365.43, the Industrial Index shed 8.71 points to 2,224.91 and the Plantation Index declined 34.92 points to 4,924.41.

The FBMEmas rose 24.45 points to 6,334.34, the FBM30 improved 47.53 points to 6,135.85, the FBM2BRD was 20.23 points lower at 4,108.95 while the FBM-MDQ gained 30.15 points to 3,387.67.

Losers led gainers by 405 to 310 while 166 counters were unchanged, 363 untraded and 37 others suspended.

Total volume improved to 1.963 billion shares worth RM1.463 billion from 1.656 billion shares valued at RM1.394 billion. -- Bernama
