KL shares end slightly lower (11.02.2009)

SHARE prices on Bursa Malaysia closed slightly lower today as mild bargain hunting managed to cap further losses on the local bourse with sustained concerns over the United States stimulus plan, dealers said.

At the closing bell, the benchmark Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) closed 6.45 points lower or 0.714 per cent at 897.07, dragged down by losses mostly in IOI Corporation and Bumiputra-Commerce.

However, mild bargain hunting ten minutes before closing managed to cap some of the losses, they said.

The KLCI moved between 894.63 and 899.88 during the trading session today.

The Industrial Index eased 0.29 of a point to 2,129.17, the Finance Index dropped 67.96 points to 7,084.82 and the Plantation Index lost 67.48 points to 4,581.77.

The FBMEmas was 34.43 points lower at 5,876.84 while the FBM30 fell 42.04 points to 5,796.23 with the FBMMesdaq rising 18.86 points to 3,405.23 and the FBM2BRD decreased 4.07 points to 3,968.38.

Losers thumped gainers by 233 to 188, while 204 counters closed unchanged, 631 untraded and 38 others suspended.

Turnover declined to 313.431 million shares worth RM433.5 million from yesterday’s close of 430.02 million shares worth RM733.7 million. - Bernama
